Florida VPK Program

The Florida Voluntary Pre-kindergarten Education Program

For Four- and Five-Year-Olds Who Reside in Florida

The Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Education Program or Florida VPK is a FREE Pre-K program for four and five-year-olds who reside in Florida. Florida VPK gives children a jump start by preparing them for school and enhancing their pre-reading, pre-math, language and social skills. By developing the skills children need to become strong readers and students at an early age, children are more likely to be successful in school.

Florida VPK classrooms offer high-quality programs that include high literacy standards, developmentally appropriate curricula, manageable class sizes, and qualified teachers. The Florida VPK school-year program includes 540 hours of instructional time and begins in August.

Registration starts in March and goes through July. To register, parents must bring their registration form to secure a spot and prove Florida residency. Children must be age four on or before September 1 and going to K-5 the following year.

Broward County residents can register their child for VPK here. The Florida VPK Program offers various program options in a safe classroom setting for prekindergarten children. The Florida VPK Application can be completed online. Eligibility requirements include proof of residency and completion of the Florida VPK Application.
