SC 4K First Steps Program
Supports proper childhood development
For Four- and Five-Year-Olds Who Reside in South Carolina
This program is currently offered at select locations.
The FREE SC First Steps program teaches children in South Carolina First Steps 4K programs to be socially and emotionally prepared for public 5K programs. The program aims to teach children the skills they need in communication, motor development, problem-solving, and social development. The SC First Steps 4K guidelines ensure that the learning experiences in the program support proper childhood development.
Qualifications
To qualify during the upcoming school year, your child must:
- Be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1
- Be eligible for Medicaid, free or reduced-price lunch program, SNAP/TANF recipient OR be experiencing homelessness, transiency, or in foster care
- Be a South Carolina Resident
The full-day 4k First Steps South Carolina program begins in August, runs Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 2:30 pm, and is offered at our Leesville, Clinton, and Roebuck child care center locations. Before and after-school care is also available through the SC First Steps 4K program.
