Teachers often play an outsized role in the lives of the children they teach. They support, inspire, motivate and bring learning to life, and their paychecks rarely reflect just how much time and energy they put into their work. Teacher Appreciation Week is a chance for students, parents and administrators to show their thanks.

“Students and families celebrate teachers for the week of Teacher Appreciation by making cards, bringing treats and celebrating their educators in many other ways,” says Sara Murtaza, a virtual teaching instructor for K-5 students at the education company Carnegie Learning, who has taught in both public and private schools in California.
